Del Mar
Del Mar is a world-famous coastal city known for its beaches, Seaside Village, and renowned Racetrack. Yearly, the Del Mar Racetrack and fairgrounds are host to the San Diego County Fair, an attraction that draws more than a million attendees to its games and rollercoasters. Del Mar's heritage as a seaside resort is clearly felt in the upscale Del Mar Village, a stretch of boutique hotels and shops along picturesque beaches and cliffs. The North Beach Area that runs from 29th Street to the Solana Beach border is know to locals as "Dog Beach." Here, dogs are allowed to play on the shore off-leash at all hours during the off-season. Del Mar's coastline runs south into Torrey Pines State Beach and State Reserve. The two-thousand acre state park is lined with trails, trees, and cliffs, producing a walkable but well preserved wilderness.
